Old Loudoun Mill, Mill Road, Newmilns
This mill was owned by the Loudoun family for more than 300 years, it may have been instrumental in conjunction with the adjacent 'waulk mills' in giving Newmilns its name, 'New Mylls'.
It is situated at Ladeside and had been grinding corn since the 17th Century, it ceased production in 1960, the water mill was removed 10 years later. It is now a private dwelling but the motto 'no mill, no meal' can still be seen. (Photograph No1).
