Newmilns Gala Committee

Newmilns Gala Committee Newmilns Gala Day will be held on Saturday 7th of August 2010, volunteers are required to help organise and fundraise for this event. The organisation meetings are held in The Riverside Inn and notification of these meetings and information will be given on this page.

Please support your Gala Day and your community. Local charities benefit greatly and work hard to fundraise on the day which benefits the whole community.

Please note: GALA COMMITTEE AGM, The Riverside Inn, Monday 19th April at 8.00pm. All welcome, please lend your support.

Proposed Events, Newmilns Gala Day, Saturday 7th August proceeded by a week of events, please confirm all times and dates etc.



Childrens Disco, Magician Show, Quiz Night, Open Night at the Ski Centre, Car Treasure Hunt, 5 a side football, Pool and Domino Competitions, Bowling Competition. The Gala Day is the conclusion of these events.

Race Night provisionally booked for 21st of May at The Riverside Inn, TBC.

Please give your support to the Gala Committee, any assistance, ideas etc please attend the AGM OR contact the above telephone numbers. It is our community, let's make this a day to be proud of.

UPDATE;  Race Night at The Riverside Inn on Friday 21st of May, Community support please.

The Gala Committee would welcome all organisations who wish to have a float in the parade or to

participate in the parade to contact Irene Brown on 01560 322222. The Gala Day is the 7th August.

Probable Events, these will be confirmed at a later date:

Friday 30th July,Car Treasure Hunt, followed by Casino type night at the Riverside.

Saturday 31st July, Pool Competition in The Crown Hotel.

Sunday 1st August, Five-a-side Football Competition. 12noon -2.00pm Kids Competition.

Also probable" Beat the Goalie".                               2.00pm Adult Competition.

Sunday 1st August,Domino Competition, at the Loudoun Arms.

Monday 2nd August, Open night at the Ski Centre.

Tuesday 3rd August, Magic Party at Newmilns Bowling Club.

Wednesday 4th August, Quiz night at the Riverside Inn.

Thursday 5th August, Bowling Competition-Newmilns Bowling Green.

Friday 6th August, Under 5s Disco( 6.15-7.15pm) 5-12s Disco (7.30-9.00pm): Newmilns Bowling Club.

Saturday 7th August, GALA DAY.

Programme, this will be circulated to every home in Newmilns

and Shops /  Newsagents in the Valley Towns.

Newmilns Gala Committee continue to do a fabulous job providing our community with successful Gala Days year after year. Just one thing though-my nine year old pipes up last Saturday, "How come there's never a Gala King?" Have to say I didn't have much of an answer for him. Should Newmilns continue with tradition, or be trendsetters in allowing the children to vote for either their favourite girl or their favourite boy to be Gala Queen or King?? Yep - I know it sounds a bit strange - but what does everyone else think???

The Forth Bridges Accordion Band is a community marching band based in Bo'ness.  We have a membership of 65 from the age of 3 to 70.  We take part in many gala days, fair days and christmas parades over the year and are currently seeking bookings for 2010 and 2011.  Any organisation who is interested in booking the band please let me know via e-mail or telephone 07834903858.
